It has been a long time since I kept up the blog but I am renewing my efforts to talk about Pool Play.
It's a play. In a pool. Actually in a pool. Everyone's next question is always, "is it empty?" No. It's a filled pool. Filled with water of course. And my cast mates and I are going to put on quite the show. In it.
The piece was conceived and is being directed by Erin Mee. (Here's a great interview with Erin conducted by Jonathan Mandell from the New York Theater website.) The original material for this piece was written by Charles Mee and has been beautifully supplemented by up-and-coming playwright Jessie Bear. The two styles flow seamlessly together in what is truly a unique New York experience. The piece uses everything from choreographed water dances, to music and, of course, the written word to touch on all aspects of the joys, insecurities and politics surrounding pools today, yesterday and tomorrow. It will leave you smiling but thinking.
There is more information at the production's official Facebook page if you click here.
Tickets are on-sale now. And when you come to the show be sure to wear some pants you can roll above the knee cause this is an immersive theatre-going event...you can literally immerse your feet in the pool while you watch. That's a bonus. From us to you.
Opening weekend is
Friday, February 7th @ 8:00 PM
Saturday, February 8th @ 6:00 PM
The run is every Friday @ 8PM and Saturday @ 6PM from February 7th - March 8th.
(If you're planning on coming for opening weekend then let me know by commenting on this page, emailing or Facebook DM and I will hook you up!)
You can get tickets by clicking here. Or here. And even here.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
